The MSU Department of Art and the Starkville Oktibbeha School District PTO celebrate the artistic talents of Pre-K through 12th grade students with the annual Buzzy's Art Contest.
This online exhibition features images of original award winning works of art by students in the Starkville Oktibbeha School District.
This year, works were submitted into four categories: 2D, 3D, Creative Writing, and Photography. Each 2D, 3D, and Photography work is analyzed and reviewed by a guest juror from the MSU Department of Art faculty. Judging criteria includes the level of Completeness, Skill, Creativity, and Composition. Each Creative Writing submission is analyzed and reviewed by a guest juror from the MSU Department of English. Judging criteria includes ranking each Creative Writing submission based on the level of Originality, Creative Expression, Organization, and Use of Language.
Awards for each category include Best in Show, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Places, plus Honorable Mentions. The types and number of awards for each category are different depending on the number of entries for each school and grade.
From April 7 through April 14, 2022, in the MSU Visual Arts Center Gallery is a public display of printed photographs featuring images of the Best in Show works from The Buzzys Art Contest.
The Visual Arts Center Gallery is located at 808 University Drive. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday 1–6pm and Saturday 1–4pm.
