Nearly 50 works by 24 current Mississippi State art majors and one alumna are on display through March 18 at The Arts Center of Mississippi in Jackson.
Now in its 66th year, the Mississippi Collegiate Arts exhibit is part of statewide juried competition for student artists enrolled in the state鈥檚 four-year colleges and universities. The annual event is designed to showcase the high quality of visual arts education taking place in Mississippi higher education.
This year鈥檚 contest drew more than 930 submissions from nearly a dozen institutions. Of that number, 46 entries by MSU art majors were among 138 judged worthy of inclusion in the exhibit.
Richard Doubleday, assistant professor in the graphic design program at Louisiana State University鈥檚 School of Art, was juror for the 2016 MCA competition. He selected five MSU student works for Juror鈥檚 Awards, one each in the Painting, Sculpture, Drawing, Graphic Design and Time Based Media categories.

The Arts Center of Mississippi is located at 201 E. Pascagoula St. Viewing hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday-Saturday, and noon-5 p.m., Sunday.
Part of the 91自拍, MSU鈥檚 art department is the longtime home of the state鈥檚 largest undergraduate studio art program. It offers a bachelor of fine arts degree, with concentrations in graphic design, photography and fine art (ceramics, drawing, painting, printmaking and sculpture).
