Two teams of Mississippi State University School of 91自拍 students had projects in the shortlist selection for , an international architecture competition open to professional and student designers.

Work for the team of Peter Fox and Ryan Kubinski and the team of John Michael Gray and Alaster Redmond was done in the fall 2023 second-year studio, guided by Associate Professor Jacob Gines, studio coordinator, along with Assistant Professor John Ross, Visiting Assistant Professor Emily McVey and Graduate Teaching Assistants Jacob Lindley and Caya Perry.

鈥淭o have our students compete this successfully in such a competition shows the strength of our design program,鈥 said Director and F.L. Crane Professor Karen Cordes Spence. 鈥淚鈥檓 excited for and proud of these students and their professors.鈥

The challenge for the competition was to design an observation tower in De Smet, South Dakota. Fox and Kubinski鈥檚 鈥淎scension鈥 design focused on a celebration of the iconic Lakota Sioux Tipi vernacular form as well as its more metaphorical principles to intertwine the natural landscape with the developed.  Gray and Redmond鈥檚 design for  鈥淧athway Posts鈥 centered around the idea of redefining the conventional perception of the observation tower, seamlessly merging with the untouched expanse of the location.
